We very much appreciated the aesthetically beautiful bedroom and other house furnishings. The peace and quiet also made for great moments of prayer and meditation. We will highly recommend hyour B&B to friends and family.
Best,

October 2005
Our first experience in an American B&B -- what a gem! We were made so welcome by Bill and Ellie and we loved all the little special touches: the spiced cider, the coffee and tea cart, the chocolate and of course the delicious breakfast. Unfortunately we could only stay one night but it was a charming and memorable experience.
Thank you!

We had such a wonderful stay I felt compelled to post a remark. Ambiance was superb, quiet and restful, but the breakfast was 'beyond belief'-5 courses, all truly exceptional. We have stayed at 50-70 B&Bs over the last 2 decades and never have we had a breakfast to compare with this one!

Donna and I have stayed in a lot of B&Bs both in the USA and in Europe. We agree that Bill and Ellie are the MOST fascinating couple that we have met as B&B owners in all our travels! They also rate as #1 with their classy breakfast menus. The accomodations were very comfortable, cozy and quiet. We undoubtedly will stay again when we visit Rochester.

Dear Ellie and Bill,
Thank you so much for your warmth and hospitality during my stay. I couldn't possibly have chosen a nicer way to begin my first visit to Rochester. My interviews went incredibly well; as a result, I just might find myself a resident of Rochester soon.
Thanks for a wonderful first impression. You two AND your B&B are outstanding!
All my best!

I am a native Rochesterian who lives out of town. I love staying at Dartmouth House with Ellie and Bill because their hospitality is the best bar none. I truly feel it is my "home away from home". They are a joy to talk to-I, too, have
learned much from them in the course of our conversations. How I admire their intelligence, intellect, and wisdom. Even the other guests usually have something of interest to share! Ellie and Bill have created a warm and comfortable atmosphere where we visitors can reenergize after an exhaustive day. Breakfasts are indeed scrumptious; more often than not, I have no need for lunch! Thank you, Ellie and Bill, for Dartmouth House. I always look forward to the next time.

Dartmouth House is simply the best choice for any weary traveller - and an special delight (if not an outright relief!) for women travellers on their own in a strange city: Charming bedrooms, with thoughtful touches (bedtime chocolates, hot tea bottles for people who come in late), a splendid location (tree-lined historic neighborhood of turn-of-the-century homes, all minutes away from smart cafes and shopping). Of course, Ellie and Bill are the perfect hosts - always at the ready with advice and assistance! A stay at the Dartmouth leaves with you the feeling that you have just weekended with good friends...I would put The Dartmouth House at the top of my list of places to return for a relaxing vacation!
All my love and thanks to Ellie and Bill!!!

Ellie and Bill are the most warm and accomodating people. It took us all of 30 secs to feel like we had walked into an old friend's house. And Dartmouth house looks so beautiful especially during the holidays. It's just a joy to be there, relaxing with a good book, eating cookies and drinking tea from the hall outside our bedroom.
Each morning, Ellie greets us with a warm and delicious breakfast that has perfect proportions. Even more delicious is the conversation among their special guests. On a recent visit, we enjoyed trading book lists, vocabulary puzzles and technology ruminations with our breakfast companions only to find out later that they were NASA employees, violin makers (Luthiers - thanks Bill!), and concert musicians. What an amazing treat!

For those who are wondering which accomodations in Rochester to choose, sight unseen, my advice is PICK THIS ONE!
In one of Rochester's most beautiful neighborhoods you will enjoy just walking and admiring the big turn-of-the-century homes, each one unique. Breakfast is just out of this world and the conversation at table is extra interesting with guests from many walks of life.
Staying at a B & B is always fun but Ellie and Bill bring it to the next level with their thoughtfulness as hosts. I just chose Dartmouth House by chance from the Internet, but I am pretty sure there is no other place that would have treated me the way they did. I'm not allowed to reveal all the surprises but see for yourself. Once you've been here you will compare every other place to this one: because this home has a heart.
Thanks Ellie and Bill! You are the best!

The day I found the Dartmouth House was indeed a fortuitous one for me. I travel to Rochester frequently and was very tired of the "cookie cutter" hotel rooms I had been staying in. The moment Bill opened the front door and welcomed me with his big friendly smile, I knew that your place would be great---and it is.
Both of you are charming and you make visitors feel both special and pampered. The breakfasts by candlelight --- each morning a bit different but not too much so --- are scrumptious.
And, having WiFi for my laptop was like the frosting on the cake.
Thanks! I'll return----many times, hopefully.
Oh! I almost forgot-----I have never slept as well anywhere -- even at home --as I do at The Dartmouth House-----what kind of mattresses do you have? I must remember to ask you.
